v0.9.0 — 2026-10-14
- Actions panel work includes Photoshop .atn load/save, set folders, per-step dialog toggles and Insert Stop. Compatibility is partial; see the Actions notes below.
- DPX open/save, system printing and Crop and Straighten Photos automation are reported in the release notes.
- PSD, CMYK, layer-deletion and type-editing fixes are included. Test copies of documents before replacing an existing workflow.
- This wiki also verified and installed the official v0.9.0 WebAssembly archive for its optional browser trial.
v0.8.2 — 2026-10-12
- Shared panel docking and workspace controls, Perspective Crop, Frame, Artboard, Freeform Pen and Curvature Pen are listed among the changes.
- Brush stroke commits, background saving and GPU compositing received performance changes reported by the project, not independently benchmarked here.
- PSD interoperability, mask handling, OpenRaster exports and keyboard-shortcut parsing received fixes.
v0.7.0 — 2026-10-11
- Mask thumbnails refresh after whole-mask edits; mask density and feather controls are exposed in Properties.
- The Remove tool and OpenRaster (.ora) open/save support are included.
- Layered edits of flat images default to PSD on Save, and duplicated Smart Objects retain shared contents.
- The project reports a Linux GPU startup fallback and a smaller web build; this wiki has not benchmarked them.
v0.6.0 — 2026-10-10
- Motion Blur performance improved; the release notes report a 6x to 70x speedup, not an independent benchmark by this wiki.
- PSD mask interpretation and empty-channel export received fixes.
- Text data sets re-render type layers instead of blanking them; Quick Export shows the configured format.
- Startup preserves the GPU backend after windowing errors, and Flatpak can find host fonts.
v0.5.0 — 2026-10-08
- Rendering modes and CPU fallback recovery were added.
- HEIC/HEIF opening, the Patch tool and Mixer Brush UI were included.
- The release explains Wayland drag-and-drop limitations and adds AppImage desktop integration.

How to check for and install an update
- Compare the version you installed with the tag on the official latest-release page. Check the notes for the workflows you use, rather than relying on a download directory's cached version.
- Choose a matching operating-system and CPU package. Download the installer and checksum list from that same release.
- Verify SHA256 using the local checksum verifier or your system's hash tool.
- Keep your original documents, install using the appropriate guide, and test a copy before continuing important work.

Why a download and the browser trial can differ
The desktop package and checksum snapshot is v0.9.0, checked 2026-10-15. The browser trial is independently pinned to v0.9.0. Checking a new desktop release does not replace the browser runtime, and a successful version check does not install anything.

What is the latest verified PhotoCraft version?
The official latest-release page showed v0.9.0 when reviewed on 2026-10-15. That is a dated observation. Check the official latest page for releases published after this review.
Does the browser trial always follow the newest desktop release?
No. This wiki's browser trial is pinned to v0.9.0. Desktop package selection can check GitHub separately; a browser runtime upgrade requires its own verification.
Do these notes prove PhotoCraft is ready to replace Photoshop?
No. They summarize selected changes reported by the project, not a compatibility benchmark. Test your own workflow and keep originals, because PhotoCraft remains an early alpha.
